let me share today's shocker. the parents came in today to discuss their kids' progress in depth (normally we cannot spare 10 minutes each just to talk). I asked Frog's father about the younger son, whom the kid is always talking about, I had also met him several times, just casually, how is he doing, is he coming to kindergarten 2 this year. he said, nong tai laew. ??? oh my god. what happened? I was in shock. turned out the boy was actually Frog's cousin, but they are indeed inseparable and like each other as brothers. his real "nong" died a couple of years ago, because he had been born prematurely, just as Frog was, but he pulled through in the end. - I had heard that story before, and that the doctors had predicted Frog would be mentally handicapped, and there was no hope for him, today he is my best student and the most amazing kid you can imagine, the family just proved all the doctors wrong. I just ran out and cried.
sorry to hear that Betti! What happened? Did I get that right that Frog's real nong died earlier, and now Frog's cousin died too? :shocked:! the last two days have been crap for me too, and this weekend doesn't look too promising either. ok, nobody died... but I feel shit. So much for keeping the rant up ;) (should we maybe rename this group and invite a few other people??)
sorry to hear even your weekend is messed up :-( who would you like to invite? :-) my English sucks. no, thankfully the cousin (forgot his name) didn't die. I had thought he was Frog's brother, and I hadn't known about the little baby brother. so, when he told me "nong tai laew" I thought it was this 4-year-old boy I had met a few times who had died recently.
ah, sorry I misunderstood you! less horrible this way... but still horrible... the inviting was just a joke... I thought now that we are all in "rant-mode", we could invite some other forum "ranters" ;) nothing serious;) when are you leaving again? I know you mentioned it, but I forgot, sorry!

What an emotional conversation that must have been...and it probably gives you great insight in to Frog now and all that he deals with. same here, I'll wait until it's your birthday to post on that thread. Is it just here in Switzerland or have you also heard people say that it's impolite and/or brings bad luck to congratulate before the birthday?? Have a good trip! And enjoy your mum and have fun and.... :-) :-) I hope you get the chance to come online sometimes, oh and please take a few of those lovely pictures you always take:-) I'd love to be able to put things so nicely in frame as you do! Mine always end up in the wrong perspective, or not very interesting, or with strange light...ah whatever. you don't want to hear this. I'll post again when I'm happy and sane again.

morning :-) I am grumpy and tired too. couldn't get enough sleep, though this was my only chance in the holiday I guess! I don't think good wishes can bring bad luck, anytime :-) the smoke is continuing to roll in now and I am coughing badly. the perfect time to get out of Chiang Mai at last!
