  1. News: Re: Editor-in-Chief of The Bangkok Post Says He Was Sacked for Criticizing Military G

Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
  2. Re: Thai Airways Limits Passenger Waist Size for Business Class on Boeing Dreamliner

If I get seated next to a man he usually stakes a claim on what he considers his territory first thing by parking his meaty arms on the arm rests.
  3. Re: Thai Airways Limits Passenger Waist Size for Business Class on Boeing Dreamliner

Hmmm........I googled "average waist size of men" and this is the first response:

    "35.8 inches
The survey reveals that the average British man estimated that they had a waist size of 35.8...
  4. News: Re: Probe found 88 million baht has been embezzled from fund for poor students

It seems to me that there's no one minding the cookie jar on a regular basis, unless previous internal auditors were nibbling.
  5. Visitor Warning: Re: Six cases of human rabies in Bangkok since January 1

My daughter, who was around 7 at the time, had to have a series of rabies shots after being nipped by a cousin's dog. The kids were on the floor playing with the little dog when it happened. I was...

  7. Pictures: Re: Trip to Chanthaburi for the Christmas celebrations

Chantaburi looks to be a nice place to spend a holiday week, or even a nice quiet place to live. Right now I'm dreaming of a warm place for the winter.
  8. News: Re: Americans arrested for bare buttocks at temple

Forget for a moment how inappropriate and stupid their actions were. Why did they think they would get away with it? Did they think no one would see them in a city like Bangkok. I don't think...

    Re: Apartment living in Bangkok

Best wishes to you, Tim. I lived near the river and think it is the only way (for me, anyway) to live in Bangkok. I loved walking to the pier and taking the boat, too.

    Hi Trut1974,

I have been thru Katy Texas many times on my way to Zapata. Going thru Katy on I-10 is a drive in the country compared to Houston! I'm sure you have no problem driving in Bangkok...

  15. Festival: Re: TAT is promoting Loy Krathong 2017 in six unique destinations

I'm not fond of crowds, but I regret that I never got to participate in Loy Kratong, aside from having water thrown at me when I was new to Thailand and very green. If I had the opportunity, I would...

Most likely available on YouTube as soon as possible.
  17. Event Update: Re: Information for tourists about the Royal Funeral of the late Thai King

In my opinion, this would not be a good time to visit Bangkok as a tourist. It would be more respectful to wait a month or so.

Press Release: Re: New film sheds light on Jim Thompson mystery

Interesting article, but I suspect at this point only dna would put the theories to rest. Sadly, I think not too many people know or care about him any longer. Obviously the film makers do, though.
  20. Sticky: Re: The Emu story-Building a Home in Thailand (PHOTOS & VIDS)

Poor little Pooklook. I hope the deep tissue infection will not be a recurring problem.
  21. Sticky: Re: The Emu story-Building a Home in Thailand (PHOTOS & VIDS)

I was told, too, that most Thais couldn't swim. Mr X, whose family home was right on the river before they were displaced by a bridge, said they threw him into the water when he was a baby (not...
  22. News: Re: Yingluck passport ban reaches Foreign Ministry

I think this passport revocation is a symbolic insult. Since she is seeking asylum in the UK, and probably realizes she will never be able to return to Thailand under the current administration, she...

  30. Breaking News: Re: Yingluck trial: Thais seek ex-PM after she fails to show for verdict

I haven't been following this story closely, so don't have an opinion. I dislike cowardice, but is it cowardly of her to leave Thailand rather than face a prison sentence? I know I would do the same,...

I wonder if there are any stamp collectors here? Not me, but sometimes when I see an old stamp I like I think maybe I should have saved them.
  35. Re: Thai references gone wrong. When the West pays homage to the Land of Smiles.

Here is an example of a basic tote bag which can be easily made. I'm sure you have them in the UK, but by a different name. I've chosen a sewing pattern. I would choose the boxed bottom.

My Travel Story: Re: A little bit from my travels on You Tube.

Glad you're getting along after the surgery, Billy. I know several people who have had knee or hip replacement. They all say the pain is terrible at first, but the end result makes it all worthwhile.
