It is all about outward appearance and perception.

Re: Luk Krueng Life In Bangkok
Hi Well it seems like there are many luk krungs in Thailand.
In august I will also join the group. I'm going on exchange at thammasat university. I'm half Thai and Danish. Dad Thai mom Danish. I have spent my hole life in Denmark, been to Thailand three times though. I'm also planning to life at least for a year or more in Thailand, because it is such a beautiful country. Bangkok is a bit poluted, but who cares. I read a thread that luk krungs are lucky. That they are placed better than the normal thai, I don't understand that. Is it because they are western oriented??
Can some explain?

I will only touch on one aspect--appearance. (I will skip the other sides.) Luk kreungs with farang parent will likely be taller than the typical Thais, have light skin, high nose, maybe green/blue eyes, and maybe blondish hair. That, to Thai standard of beauty, is very attractive. Many beauty contestant winners are leuk kreungs.
I value informed opinion, not opinion that stems from nothing but attitude. The latter is the depth of ignorance.

Re: Luk Krueng Life In Bangkok
While its true that most thais regard the typical luuk kreung look as very attractive, its by no means a sure road to stardom.
Think of how many stunning looking westerns who go to Hollywood, how many of these blond bombshells and Adonis guys will be famous?
While luuk kruengs are looked upon favorable in the media u will find there are usually a glass ceiling making it harder for them away from the cameras, altho a large part is dependant how well you speak thai and can conform to the thai society.
As often in Thailand it comes down to the parents wealth and social class, what schools they can afford to send their children too, what connections do they have. etc.
I seen many poor luuk kruengs who live the typical life of poor thais who make some hundred bath per day, far away from stardom.

Being a luuk krueng will give you a favourable start. The rest depends on your connections.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but what kind of edge are we talking about. Is it easier to get a god job, easier to get to know girls, make money? I'm a bit confused what head start we are talking about

If a luuk krueng wants to venture into modelling, singing or acting, I am sure he/she will find it much easier than an "ethnic" Thai to land the job.

Re: Luk Krueng Life In Bangkok
Just curious do normal western people have the same benefits as luk krungs or is it just luk krungs because they are half thai
