Fan Chan sounds like a very popular movie - I heard its name repeated over and over again on a BKK podcast by a farang Thai movie buff when asked to name his fav Thai movie.
Mine is still Nong Mia and My Gal, but recently I added Monrak Transistor to my list!

Actually I quite like The Dorm too for its sort of a coming of age theme but somehow for some unknown reasons to myself, it did not quite make my fav list. And if short movies count, I will really love to put Luang Tak I and II into my fav list, for its societal, thought-provoking message.

Re: What's your favourite Thai movie of all time?
The link to the movie is in this website, just go to the category of videos or movies (can't remember which exactly), then search under the subcategory of Thai Buddhism, then go to Luang Tak. Alternatively, go directly to Youtube and search for Luang Tak. Gd luck. The theme is very explicit so you will be definitely be able to catch it and moreover, some movies impact more on you and drive the message home more directly and significantly if you watch them instead of someone verbalizing them.

Try Luang Ta if the 'tak' dun work. The Eng translation is Old Monk. It's a short Thai movie about an old monk whom a family volunteers to take around on his daily morning alms.

Re: What's your favourite Thai movie of all time?
Peiyan, I'm appreciate that you had gone the extra miles..however sad to say that I'm still clueless and kinda lost in the jungle haha.
Even in youtube, I can't seemed to match a short Thai movie about an old monk whom a family volunteers to take around on his daily morning alms. If I type "Luang Tak", it gives me the search like Tak Bat in Luang Prabang, Laos - 2000, etc..If I try "Luang Ta", it gives me Luangta Maha Bua Yanasampanno Save The Nation 2.mpg and so on...
I try my luck some other time and I hope that I can find it

Strangely, I can't locate the movie anymore after I tried searching for it on Youtube after reading your post. Perhaps it had been removed?
