Sleep, little one, close your eyes, mother will sing you a lullaby... Sleep in a jewel cradle, sleep, mother will rock you.
If you don't sleep the midges will go for your eyes and pollen will fall on the cradle....Sleep, close your eyes...

When I looked at the picture of Fan Chan - My Girl, I had got a suprised haha. Because I had watched this movie and the storyline are very interesting too. Which the boy Jeab struggles on to mix and playing around with the girls or boys.

Great Djaidee, now I know why people were raving over Fan Chan - cos it's all for th same reason why I had raved over My Girl!
The first time I watched it was at my cousin's house; she had bought the DVD or VCD and she in turn could not resist introducing the movie to me. A year or so earlier, I returned to it again and it did not fail to move me as much as ever!

Re: What's your favourite Thai movie of all time?
Btw had anyone watched Uncle Boomree Who Can Remember His Past Lives? How was it? Cos nobody had listed it as one of their Thai fa movies, so far.
It was aired briefly in SG's Cathay Picturehouse and I had wanted to catch it then but was too busy preparing for my big move then so had to miss it then - really disappointing. Probably had to purchase it online now I guess...Sleep, little one, close your eyes, mother will sing you a lullaby... Sleep in a jewel cradle, sleep, mother will rock you.

Re: What's your favourite Thai movie of all time?
Oh yes, I almost forgot this one, since the LT could not be located anymore. It's about a family of parents and a young boy who decided to volunteer to help out an old, wheelchair-bound monk by wheeling him out for his daily morning alms. Actually it was the dad's idea as the family had some sort of debts and he hoped to steal enough money from the devotees' daily offerings (for the monk's medical fees) in the process so that they could ease their current financial difficulty.
However, the boy was very unhappy, and probably felt bad that his parents were robbing from the monk on the pretext of helping him, and one day, he realized that he still had some money left in his pocket that was supposed to have been returned to the monk. He retraced his steps and walked back to the monk's room and to his shock, he heard and saw the 'immobile' monk getting up from the bed. That was how the movie ended.
It might have sounded like the movie was criticising Thai Buddhism, but what I feel is that it is an undeniable situation that there do exist such people who lie and play on devotees' compassion and faithfulness, while being drabbed in holy uniform, so what the movie was focusing on was not the wrong-doings of the Thai sangha but on the blacksheep within the community (both the laypeople and the false monks).Sleep, little one, close your eyes, mother will sing you a lullaby... Sleep in a jewel cradle, sleep, mother will rock you.
If you don't sleep the midges will go for your eyes and pollen will fall on the cradle....Sleep, close your eyes...
