An Indian Father Looking for Advice!
Hi,
I am sorry if this is not the right place to start this thread, but I didn't know what to do!
I am very new to Bangkok, just about a month now. While I have tried to gather the look and feel of the place hands-on, I am still concerned about one thing. I love the food, I love the place, but I dont know anything about education. My 4 year old son and my wife are due to arrive Bangkok soon and I dont know what am I going to do about my son's education. While he studies at a very good school back home in Delhi, I just cannot bear to uproot him from a good allround education system and bring him here. I know there are many international schools but they are not in my budget!
Are there any Indians who faced a similar situation? Can ANYONE tell me what to do and whether there are good English medium schools within a decent range?
HELP PLEASE!

A cheaper alternative to the international schools would be the bilingual schools. These are basically a normal Thai school with an English programme where the subjects are taught in English. They are aimed at Thai students but I guess foreign students could attend as well.
There are a number of Sikh Temples in Bangkok. Have you tried asking people around that area? I am not presuming you are Sikh. I just think that is a good place to start looking.
If you are Sikh, then trythe Thai sikh Internation School in North Samrong.

Hope you enjoy living in Thailand, welcome to the forum. From what I understand, Thai kids behave very well at school and respect there teaches very much, which is very conducive to learning, unlike the school I went to in Australia, I'm sure your 4 year old son will do well, as at his age he will pick up all the languages easily, Thai, English and Indian, triple lingual.

Thanks, Richard and Paul!
Thank You, Richard and Paul. I am sure he'd be able to pick up the language very quickly. I am not too worried about that. And Richard, actually we do practise Sikhism so Thai Sikh school looks a likely option. I have checked out the website of the school and it seems alright, only it doesnt talk about the fee structure.
Since my wife is an English Trainer back home in India, maybe she could get a job at the school!!
Anyway, thanks once again for this info, would be extremely helpful for me.
Just one question: Where is Samut Prakarn?
Rgds,
Amit
