    Re: Rhyming expressions

เมื่อเชื่อ: (same as เมื่อ as far as I can determine).

I think it is part of the longer phrase:
    ทุกเมื่อเชื่อวัน =
    ทุกวัน = everyday

Yes, that is how it is used in the book where I found it. I just didn't know how much of the phrase was the common expression. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for contributing so far! Keep up the good work.. I'll be away for the better part of a week, don't know if I'll have any internet access.

Here are a couple more for the road:
    เก่งกล้าสามารถ - skillful, able
    ขยันขันแข็ง - diligent, industrious
    ขยันหมั่นเพียร - diligent, hard working
    แลบลิ้นปลิ้นตา - to pull faces
    ขบเขี้ยวเคี้ยวฟัน - to gnash one's teeth
    กินเหล้าเมายา - inebriated, drunk
    ทำมาหากิน - to make a living
ทำมาค้าขาย - to make a living selling stuff
    นิสัยใจคอ - disposition

Lots more where those came from... Have fun and keep the thread alive!

อัตคัดขัดสน = to be hard up (for), short (of), hard-pressed for.

This one is kind of unique, in that the third and fourth syllables differ only in their tones, almost but not quite a reduplication.

As the list grows, it's getting harder to know whether we're duplicating entries, but anyway, here are a couple more:

    สวยสดงดงาม: beautiful

    กระตือรือร้น: eager, enthusiastic
