Hi, these a few words I don't really understand that I came across when reading some Thai magazine article. Thanks to anyone who can explain what they mean.
พิมพ์ใจ - 'pim jai'
ฮือฮา - 'heu hah'
ข้องใจ - 'korng jai'
มุมมอง - 'mum morng'
I know 'มุม' is 'corner' or 'angle', and 'มอง' means 'look at/stare at', but they seem to appear in combination quite a lot, and I don't know what the combined meaning is.
Also ประทับใจใน is 'impressed with' and น่าทึ่ง is 'impressive', but can you say "น่าประทับใจ" instead of "น่าทึ่ง" ?
Thanks.

I am afraid all I can help you with is:
ข้องใจ vi. vt.to be in doubt, to question (one's honesty)

Thanks Jackie
. I really do need to get a better dictionary as what I've got now ('Jumbo' and one of those tiny print Thai-English ones) don't have half the words I try and look up. Unfortuantely decent Thai dictionaries aren't exactly that easy to get hold of in England, I'll have to wait until January

พิมพ์ใจ by itself doesn't really seem to have an exact meaning but it can be a girl's name, I know some girls named "Pimjai". But, if you put a word รอยยิ้ม in at the front of พิมพ์ใจ, so it becomes รอยยิ้มพิมพ์ใจ, I think it means something like "very nice impressive smile"
Errr..., I just found the word พิมพ์ใจ in a dictionary in my office. It said the word means "to impress".
ฮือฮา means "hilarious" (I found this word in "Benjawan Dictionary"
)
มุมมอง means "point of view" (this one comes up from using my little brain)
yes, you can say "น่าประทับใจ" instead of "น่าทึ่ง". There is nothing wrong with that except it is spelled differently.

Thanks Nattawud, you're very helpful as ever. Checking again, you're right it was รอยยิ้มพิมพ์ใจ that was written, not only พิมพ์ใจ and your translation makes perfect sense in the context of the article.
ฮือฮา seems a bit of a strange word, I never heard anyone say it for 'hilarious', they always used ขำ, ขัน or ตลก instead. This was the context เพียงความฮือฮาก็สงบ, how would you translate this ? I can't really see how ความฮือฮา 'hilarity' would be สงบ 'peaceful' ? งง

Can you write more of that sentence - still can't make sense of it.

Sure Nattawud this is more of it
...ให้สัมภาษณ์ชัดถ้อยชัดคำในรายการทีวีรายการหนึ่งว ่า 'กับเขาไม่มีอะไรแล้ว เป็นแค่เพื่อนกัน' เพียงความฮือฮาก็สงบ!
"gave an insightful TV interview in which she said 'There's nothing between me and him now, we're just friends'. Only ความฮือฮาก็สงบ"
I think I know what most of it means, it's just the last bit that's puzzling.

It is actually quite difficult without reading the whole story. But, I guess maybe people started talking about their relationship and she is now saying that 'There's nothing between me and him now, we're just friends'.
The last bit is like saying there was a lot of gossip but it has now calmed down.Support the forum and chat rooms and buy computer software and books for learning Thai at www.BuyThaiBooks.com
