Re : Question about one of the vowel
ÊÇÑÊ´Ô¤ÃѺ
I don't understand why when using the vowel Í× we have to add a consonant Í behind, such as Á×Í ¶×Í .....
Actually, there are only a few words in this form and Í is not an ending consonant. I just want to know, if there is any, the reason why?
Thanks for any reply.

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
I don't know why, but one useful thing that is worth noting about some of these little details is that it makes it easier to read. If you see Á×Í you can tell it is not ÁÔÍ without straining your eyes. Similar for àÍÕ and àÍ×Í.

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
We could use Í× is just a sound, and is used in fact in some cartoons. ÍÖÍÖ Is more common I think, but I think I've seen a few artists use Í×.
Í×Í = yeah, sure, right adds the Í because it is a particular word (not just a weird sound).

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
Dan, my understanding is that the Í should always be added if there is no ending consonant, so you have ª×èÍ but ¡Å×¹. See http://thai-language.com/default.aspx?ref=vowels for example. This change in vowel forms depending on whether they are at the end of a syllable or not was something that really confused me when I started

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
I agree with Mike, to use ÊÃÐÍ×Í without the Í at the end is not correct.
Anyway, I think I have seen something similar in the cartoons but they are either ÍÔÍÔ or ÍÖÍÖ which is a sound of 'crafty laugh'.TK

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
I don't understand because with all other ÊÃÐà´ÕèÂÇ we don't need to add Í behind? as ÁÕ instead of ÁÕÍ, ¼Ô instead of ¼ÔÍ ....
Anyway thanks to all.

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
to me it looks like another rule without explanation or reason. it's just the way it is.
it drives 6-year-old Thais nuts, all these "split" and composite vowels, to say the least. we adults are at least capable of grasping such complex ideas....

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
As Betti says, that's probably just the way it is. As I implied earlier, there's not much reason for the endings on àÍÕ and àÍ×Í either, but it actually makes them easier to read, if you have difficulty seeing the little "sticks" that poke up out of the vowel.

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
Yes, their aren't any words with Í× that don't have another consonant following it. They are however comicbook, cartoon, and written sounds that use Í×æææ not the same context as that laugh ÍÔÍÔ ÍÖÍÖ ËÖËÖ which I see all the time. It does exsist!

Re: Re : Question about one of the vowel
Thanks Dan for let me know that nowaday they use this kind of spelling in comics, suppose it's the same when people use them in their blogs. Oh Well, I suppose I am getting too old now
, last time I read Kai Hua Roh was over 5 years ago, forgot that they did use incorrect/supposedly-fashionable spelling but then there were only ÍèÐ »Ð ´Ô etc, no Í× without Í then .
