Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
No US special Operations troops will fight in southern thailand. That's what the thai general said. Something of a doubler speak. Special ops are a contract situation these days. And these people come from countries every where. Store front ops exist thru out thailand. Some of the members of this forum know what it is about, but either can't or won't speak of it.

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
I think there are many stages of discontent....and for that matter content... amongst Muslims in Thailand. The Muderous Barbarians are quite few in number. Why do people insist on making excuses for murderous barbarians?

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
You should have a word with the Irish, their resentments went (go) way back to before the time of Oliver Cromwell!
If the brains behind the Iraqi mess had a better view of history and the effects of racial memories, then many lives and billions of dollars wouldn't have been thrown down the toilet.
The same goes for Palestine where racial memories go back 2 thousand years!
Then you have the African continent where racial memories go back to the time before the great powers colonised the place!Last edited by Peterg; 24-04-07 at 06:42 PM.

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
This is how things work:
The terrorists kill women, children, teachers, and occasionally even hit military targets.
People in the area harbor and provide aid to the terrorists.
Those who don't directly harbor or provide aid know who the terrorists are are also complicit because they say nothing.
So, the majority and not the minority are complicit in the barbarism.
It is quite similar to how it operates everywhere. In Viet Nam the VC were known to be in and around certain villages. On the surface, people went about their daily business, farming, trading, keeping shop, etc. However, they either put on the black pajamas at night, helped someone else put on their black pajamas, or knew which of their neighbors wore black pajamas.

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
Sure those things happen. Still in the minority. There are many who are speaking out and are on task forces working to find solutions. There have been for decades. My brother in law used to lobby in Bangkok on behalf of Muslim issues -- speaking about his experiences and condeming the bombings. I have no problem with your assertation that there is violence at the hand of Muslims in Thailand. ....but that is such a limited view of the life of Muslims in Thailand. The terrorists kill women, children, teachers, and occasionally even hit military targets.

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
I have been reading this post with mild interest, the real story and history of the plight of the people in Southern Thailand is best explained at thei site:
http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?id=3389&l=1
There are three articles by very well read researches, a must read if you want to know the truth, and why we should not ask or accept help from the USA.
They have botched everything they have touched in the last 40 years, and their "war" with the help of the "alliance" has made the world a really bad place to travel.
And has made everyone a suspect, I am a security risk in Australia (my place of birth) because I have lived in Thailand.
Figure that one out, Thailand did the checks and gave me a security OK Residency Book, and the Australian government says I'm a risk????

Re: Thailand rejects U.S. help to quell insurgency
Seems some american folk are more likely to bash america then citizens of other countries. How easy to forget.. world war 2, Korea, bosnia, the cold war, middle east war of the 90's. Foreign gov't's asked for assistance. Current Iraq mess, well the quick in and out predicted by some has proved to be very wrong.
