Kabin Buri
Hi guys,
We will be spending one week or so in Kabin Buri. Can anyone inform me about highlights in the neighbourhood? What to visit, to do, to see?

Re: Kabin Buri
Hi I spent a year in Prachinburi teaching, and had a great year. There really isn't much to see tourist wise in Prachin or Kabin, but yes Khao Yai is very close and as Betti says is well worth a visit, you will find guest houses and camping sites there. If you go camping with the locals they will provide plenty of whisky to see you through the cold

I don't know about Kabin, but in Prachin every Sat night there is a great night market where you can get all kinds of food you wouldn't find in any touristy areas. And it creates a great buzz and bustle to the place.
I don't know if a river runs through Kabin but in Prachin there were many food stalls and bars along the river and it is a very relaxing, if smelly place (the local males use the river as a toilet, "Nature toilet" as one of my friends used to say, mind you the toilet my girlfriend had to pay 2B for the pleasure of using was possibly the most disgusting toilet I've come across) to spend an evening. The people are really friendly and you're bound to get a couple practicing their English
There is a train station in Kabin that has a direct train to BKK. It is a really pleasant journey, it takes about 3.5hrs and takes you through some lovely countryside, you don't have to worry about psychotic mini van drivers or traffic jams and it costs only 26B from Prachin, so maybe 30B from Kabin!!! Beware the seats are wooden as it is 3rd class, but we still preferred it to the mini vans. Also you can get to Aranya Prathet the last stop in Thailand before Cambodia, there is also a huge market there that many Thais travel for hours to reach.
*****Oops, just noticed the original thread was posted in May and she hasn't been back since. Oh well now I've written it I'll keep it posted in case anyone else may want to goto Prachinburi or Kabinburi*************
