Less competion for "Longest Reigning Monarch"
Not exactly a Thailand News story, but it is of some peripheral interest that the King of Samoa died last week. He had ruled since independence from New Zealand in 1962 and was the third-longest reining monarch, after the King of Thailand (1946) and the Queen of England (1952), who are presumably now way out in front of any opposition (the news article didn't say who is now in third place). At 94 I guess he was one of the oldest as well.
