Making Sentences Game (Vocabulary Builder)
Okay... I have a learning challenge for us. I will give us a word to start. We need to each come up with five sentences using that word. For beginners, the sentences can be very simple...for more advanced learners, your challenge is to use the word in new ways or with other complicated vocabulary.
TK, Pichai, Nu, Anatta and other Thais on these forums, please give us feedback on our spelling, sentence structure, tones marks, etc.
After everyone has had a chance to share their sentences, we'll choose a new word and start over again.
Our first word is.... ดอกไม้
Good Luck!

I like this idea. I'm still learning, so someone please help me correct my Thai na krub
English: My friend, Jenny, loves to pick flowers and give them to her friends for inspiration. But I don't condone picking flowers without a real reason. A flower struggles to grow and blossim beautifully in order to entice bees to come help with pollination, which helps the plant reproduce in turn. Everytime you pick a flower, you decrease the chances of a plant's reproduction.
ขอบคุณครับ"Random Witty Comment"

Wow, excellent. I would like to correct some words if you don't mind.
I dont think you need เอา . We use สืบพันธุ์ more with animals or human.

Re: Making Sentences Game (Vocabulary Builder)
Okay, here's a sentence, and the (supposed) translation:
โลกนี้มีดอกไม้หลาย ๆ ชนิด ต่างชนิดต่างก็มีสีและกลิ่นหอมคนละอย่าง
"There are many kinds of flowers in this world, each kind having a different color and aroma."
Corrections and suggestions for other ways to say this are welcome!

Re: Making Sentences Game (Vocabulary Builder)
Here are my five sentences. Eek, it was hard to be creative!
The Official Flower of the State of Ohio is the Red Carnation.
ดอกไม้ทางราชการของรัฐโอไฮโอคืดอกคาร์เนชั่นสีแดง
The flowers you planted are wilting.
ดอกไม้ที่คุณปลูกโรยราแล้ว
Why do women put flowers in their hair? Do they like bees swarming their head?
ทำไมผู้หญิงชอบใส่ดอกไม้ในผม พวกเขาชอบผึ้งตอมหัวไหม
The bride chose flowes to compliment her dress.
เจ้าสาวเลือกดอกไม้ที่ดูเท่ดีกับชุดกระโปรง
She kept his flower pressed in her book.
เขาเก็บดอกไม้ที่เขาได้ให้แล้วในหนังสือ
I like that roni started a grammar thread, because actually, I think the structure is what I had the most difficulty with.

Nice sentences, Pailin! I like them. I don't have much to comment on. I wonder if this one:
would have a meaning more like "The flowers you planted have wilted (already)."
If they're still in the process of wilting, could you say this:
ดอกไม้ที่คุณปลูกกำลังโรยราอยู่
Thanks for adding โรยรา to my vocabulary (at least temporarily!).

Re: Making Sentences Game (Vocabulary Builder)
I would wait for confirmation on that ... that's a new word for me, too and I just guessed from the choices in the dictionary. Thanks for adding โรยรา to my vocabulary (at least temporarily!).
Let me ask you (all) about usage of กำลัง....อยู่ I do understand that it's the present progressive. The flowers are wilting. However, I think when I first learned กำลัง....อยู่ I over used it and learned that it's not always apporpriate. On the phone with my Thai father asking what are you doing. His answer is always 'um...talking to you?' because กำลัง....อยู่ is so immediate.
So... does ดอกไม้ที่คุณปลูกกำลังโรยราอยู่ imply... oh look over there, right now, a petal is slowly moving downwards? Or can that construction be broad enough to describe the longer wilting process????
Does that make sense?
Thanks for the feedback, DogoDon!!
