    Loy Kratong etc

Planning on being in BKK for a few days mid October and another few days early November.

Are there any important festivals happening at these times?

When does the Rainy Seasons Retreat end this year?

Also, when is Loy Kratong this year?

David, I have double checked the dates and I think that Loy Kratong 2007 will be celebrated 24 - 25 November. (Night of full moon Sat 24 Nov 2007)

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

    Hi Ivor

I actually intended to write 21 - 27 November. If you check this web page you can see that different cities have events on different dates.

    Thanks everyone!

Last year I managed to just miss Khao Phansa. : (

Doesn't look like I will coincide with any big cultural events this time either.

A suggestion for booking future trips is to consult a diary or almanac; you have a greater chance of your trip coinciding with a cultural event if you are there at a full moon.

Good suggestion DLU. Will definitely do that for my next proper holiday trip.

This trip I'm cadging a few days in BKK to visit friends on the way to and from a conference/ research team meeting thingy in Taipei. It's a criminal waste not to get some sightseeing/ visiting time in when you have to travel for work.
