    Foreign Boyfriend, Foreign Husband

did somebody read this book? where to find? sound interesting to read, did anybody read similar books

    #############

    - He may be old, flabby, and far from handsome, but a Western husband can bring a lifetime of happiness, according to a new book advising Thai women on how to meet and marry foreign men.

"Foreign Boyfriend, Foreign Husband", with chapters written by Thai women already married to "farang", or foreigners, sells a Cinderella-style dream to young Thai women hoping for a passport to a better life.

The book is packed with tips on dating, kissing, sexual positions, weddings, living abroad and bringing up children.

An early chapter gives basic advice on how to meet your foreign man: hang out in a bar, hotel or department store, be alone, wear a sexy dress, make eye contact, and, if you get the chance, tell a funny story.

Once you've found your boyfriend, follow these rules to make him fall in love and marry you: always look good, have sex with him whenever he asks, don't be jealous of other women, don't be too demanding and do all the housework.

A certain stigma has always been attached to poor Thai women marrying foreigners. At worst it is seen as an extension of a red-light transaction, an exchange of youth and beauty for money and security.

But the book portrays a more romantic vision. Western men, it enthuses, are kind and respectful and less likely to have the bad habits sometimes associated with Thai men which include drinking, adultery and violence.

"Thai men may have sweet words," it says, "but they want to sleep with your sister too."

While your foreign man may be years -- even decades -- older than you, see that as a good thing. "An old man is very kind. An old man has more money. An old man is faithful," the guide says.

And foreigners are much more likely to accept a divorcee or widow, it claims, women not considered ideal wives in traditional Thai society.

Written in simple Thai, and available at bookstore chains across Thailand, the slim tome is aimed at impressionable, uneducated women and would be seen as a joke by many Thai women, said Aomjai Sarkhampee, a 27-year-old teacher in Bangkok.

"We don't believe that marrying a farang can make our dreams come true," she said. "We want more in life."

But in rural Thailand, finding a foreign husband is a common aspiration for young women. In the poor northeast, an influx of more than 15,000 foreign men has brought an economic windfall and a welcome alternative to back-breaking work in the paddy fields.

"Foreign men are not handsome, but they have more money," sums up the book.

Are we only "farangs with money"? Is all this love fake , or this looks like arrangement marriages in old times

Thats just a certain kind of writing

Like, from the top of my head, "How to snare a millionare" by Lisa Johnson or just google "How to marry rich".

But I guess no different then books like farangs who write about their... uhm cultural experiences... in Pattaya.

Think I gonna buy the book for my wife tho. "Not to demanding" sounds good

So what's wrong with that? As long as both parties are getting what they want from the relationship and both are happy with it.

At least the roles and expectations are far more clearly defined.

Thanks for the info on the book. I'll be keeping my eyes open for it, good for a book review!

Sounds like it is full of all the same old-age (positive) stereotypes of Farang men within Thai rural society. (There are though, quite a few negative ones too!)
Reading between the lines here, there are contradictions
'have sex with him whenever he asks' vs '(Farang guys) are kind and respectful'.
Now, what kinda respect is that, expecting your wife to have sex whenever you wish?
    The author advises
'(Farang guys) are less likely to have the bad habits sometimes associated with Thai men which include drinking, adultery' & but you should 'hang out in a bar'

What the heck! With my experience of visiting farang-orientated bars, i can promise you one thing and that is, loadsa farang guys who hang out in bars looking for 'sexy dressed ladies' have both drunken and promiscuous tendencies as bad as their Thai counterparts.

Perhaps, i'll right up part two of this book, advising the women on the best ways to scam as much money and assets as heavenly possible out of their 'flabby old and far from handsome' Farang boyfriends/husbands. (The author used that language not me!)

In case you missed it, here are my own guidelines for dating Farang guys!

If I'm not wrong, there was a small booklet teaching Thai ladies how to sms their foreign boyfriends in English few years back. I've actually seen Thai lady reading the booklet and sms-ing on the spot in Hway Kwang night market.

I wonder what are they this tips? Somehow i think my gf didnt read this book. I must find this book. One sentence from my gf is in my memory "I think my mother will like you". This is from our first day. Maybe mother read some book like this and suggest to doughter to find farang, dont know. Now we are in love and nothing else metter. Maybe this book can produce many happy couples or even help to improve present situation.
Dont know much about Thai mens. I meet some and many of them have 4 gf`s and alcohol is present very much. Bad habit for future life. In that part I understand Thai girls

As we know there are not only books, but also agencies that help Thai women find foreign husbands. We had a book review earlier on this forum. There are also quite a few book with short SMS messages in both English and Thai as well as a book on letter examples for writing to Thai boyfriends ("my buffalo is sick can you send money").
