Thai woman lays "possessed" lizard to rest
Mon Apr 14, 3:02 AM ET - AFP to My Yahoo!
BANGKOK (AFP) - A Thai woman has held a funeral service for an Indian monitor lizard that she believed was possessed by her dead son's spirit.
Jamlong Taengnian, 53, adopted the lizard nearly two years ago and named him after her son "Yui", or Charoen, who was killed in a road accident, the Nation newspaper reported.
"I am so sad. I feel as if I have lost my son a second time," Jamlong told the daily after the service for the lizard at her house in Nonthaburi, just north of the capital.
A photo of Jamlong's son, who died when he was 12, was buried alongside the lizard in a grave in her garden after the service, which was attended by relatives.
Jamlong had found the tame lizard walking around her house soon after Yui died and it appeared to understand what she was saying, leading her to believe it was possessed by her son's spirit, the report said.Help support the forums by making a donation today. Thank you.
