Over 100 Thai women file for divorce with foreign husbands in Khon Kaen in 3 months

Khon Kaen - A total of 142 divorce cases were sent to the Khon Kaen Civil Court in just three months, most of them involving with Thai women seeking divorce from their western husbands, a senior judge said Saturday.

Patikorn Khonpipit, chief justice of the Juvenile and Family Court in Khon Kaen, said the divorce cases reached the court during July 1 to September 3.
He said most of the cases were filed by Thai women who wanted to get divorce from their foreign husbands.

The judge said Khon Kaen was one of the provinces with a lot of Thai women getting married with foreigners and many of them became disillusioned later so they filed for divorce.

I can maybe guess the reason for that is communication problems. Most thai-western marriages are not built on first understanding and getting to know each other for a while, and seeing compatibility issues and then deciding whether to go ahead with it or not. So in such cases, i don't think they would last long, and even if they did it would be quite false.

Best outcome for both parties. Could be these folks ARE learning about one an other and deciding to seperate. I doubt that it's only the thai woman that want to go their seperate ways. Many of these divorced gals will probably go right back looking for another farang to bamboozel

Agreed, I used to wonder why many couples that lack of communication can last long, the answer from few foreign husbands with Thai wives: they are happy with their own fantasies, along with the joke that some guys wish to have mute wife otherwise they would hear wife’s nag-nag all day long. Not sure these thoughts are sarcastic or real .

There is always a possibility the Farang Husband was an axxhole.

I think the number of Thai women filing the complaints could be high due to they are the ones that know how to fill out the papers and answer the questions quickly.

Not every man is ready to be married: Farang or Thai. Not every woman deserves to be married to a good man. It is really a two way street and it is a wonder that any marriages last at all.

Personally I find the idea of divorcing with my Thai wife extremely far-fetched. She spoils me and I spoil her: it works out pretty good.
If a guy is looking for a trophy or a house-servant and if a girl is only looking for financial gain for her and/or her parents, then I think divorce is not only probable but possibly definite.

You are one of the few lucky one's PC. Personally, I don't believe the numbers. "Most" cases filed by women. What's that mean of 142 case's? 70cases filed by men and 72 by woman. I have a feeling that many of these folk's, (women) are being helped by an agency which is advertising their ware's. Most of the woman in that area have difficulty speaking english much less writing it or even their own thai language. These woman are paying others for the legal help. For a fee and possibly a piece of the money pie, legal advisors are getting wealthy.

Well it's obviously not only 72 of the cases that were filed by women because the headline was 'Over 100 Thai women file for divorce with foreign husbands in Khon Kaen in 3 months' and 72 is not more than 100.

I don't see what relevance speaking or writing in English has? Surely if they file for divorce in Khon Kaen then it will all be done throught the medium of the Thai language? (And I don't know any Thai's that don't read and write Thai, even those that never went to school.)
