    Visiting Wat Phra Buddhabat

    Hi Everybody,
I am very new here ... and I need HELP!!!

Will be going to Bangkok with my sister during early February and staying at Bangkok Palace Hotel @ new Petchburi Road. We intend to go Wat Phra Buddhabat in Saraburi Province. We used to follow our grandma and her Senior Citizens trip whereby this will be included in our intinerary and we will go there by coach.

This is our 1st time going there on our own and we really have no idea how to go Wat Phra Buddhabat from our hotel, as both of us do not understand Thai and cannot speak Thai. And there is a Old Aged Home near this temple, but we do not know what is the name of the Home.

Anyone can help me with the above???

    Many Thanx in advance!

Can I ask you whether you are planning on hiring a car with driver or you want to go by public transport. Personally, I just head north from Bangkok on Highway 1 heading for Saraburi, then take bypass and head for Lopburi. The temple is about 15 kms Northwest of Saraburi. I usually stop there whenever I drive north to Chiang Mai.

    Hi Richard,

Thanx ... but I am not sure either ...
How do I go about to hire a car with driver (and will there by any problem since I do not understand Thai and I do not know how to reach that place)
and if its by Public transport how do I get there?

and what is the estimated travelling time?

I'm sure hiring a car with driver will definitely more convenient ... but will it cost us a bomb???

I cannot remember offhand but I would say about two and a half hours. Lop Buri is about three hours from Bangkok. You can try a taxi. I would think they would charge a roundtrip of 1,500-2,000 baht. If you want to go that way, we can post some Thai instructions here for the driver about where you want to go and what you want to do.

If you can afford that then I would advise that is better as you would need local transport both ends if you go by bus.

    Hi Richard,

Can you help to provide the address and how should i direct the cabbies to go to Wat Phra Buddhabat?
My sis and I have decided to hire a taxi with round trip between Bangkok and the temple.

Thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon.

    Cheers!
