What is your favourie som tam?

I often eat som tam thai - but I have other favourites too. This picture is of som tam polamai (mixed fruit som tam) which is also a favourite. Though I only prefer to have one chili with this fruit salad.
What is your favourite som tam?

Re: What is your favourie som tam?
I have only ever had 3-4 different styles and everyone's home recipe tends to vary. I did not know there were officially different mixes to be honest. I know that it tastes so different in BKK as what it does in the country but in the country I have only ever had one style of som tam.
Can anyone tell me about some of the others?

someone else will surely explain the differences more accurately - I just want to add I like somtam with zero chilis (they always laugh at me! - but I cannot eat spicy), and without any easily identifiable crustacean appendages.
btw.... does somtam give everyone a run to the smallest cubicle in the house?

Re: What is your favourie som tam?
I thought this might be a good time to revive this thread. This morning I was reading a thread on the gardening forum when I thought 'huh, that's not som tam'! Before replying I thought I should do a little research, which brought me to this old thread.
JingJok's picture looks so yummy! I think I know what I'm having tonight!
Does anyone else have suggestions for som tam?
The lady who had posted on the gardening forum, also provided this link: www.ThaiFoodMaster.com
Here's another link to a recipe on She Simmers http://www.shesimmers.com/2010/06/so...hai-green.html This is one of my favorite sites for Thai recipes.

Re: What is your favourie som tam?
This certainly looks much better than the vegetarian som tam my Thai friend (his very first attempt at som tam) made for us vegetarians the other time. However, because his was my very first taste of som tam, I was so full of praise for it while he was insisting that it was a far cry from how a real McCoy should taste like LOL ^^

YY, what ingredients did he use?
Actually, I suppose you can use just about anything you choose as it's the seasonings and 'dressing' which are the most important.

erm, i'm not quite sure, but he used green papaya, some peanuts, prickled chilli bits etc... His is basically all cut into small bits unlike the large chunks in the photo above...
