Re: Lunch in a Thai School

It really looks good enough to eat. Nothing like school meals when I was a t school. A couple of questions. Do all children eat school food? Is it plated in the class room by the teacher? Is it kept hot or served as it arrives?

    Thank you for sharing.

Yes, they all eat the school lunches. But they can also buy in the canteen afterwards. Food is usually always hot.

I'm surprised to see Thai kids nowadays still sporting that traditional hairstyle!

On another note, I think this system of provision of school lunch for all students is really good as I guess it will mean the end of those days when we read about how the rural kids in 1990s Thailand (e.g. in Phra Farang or Little Angels) have no pocket money for food and have to become temple boys or novice monks.

Re: Lunch in a Thai School

When I see the menu at grade schools in the states these days it's quite refreshing to see that they've really started pushing for healthier foods. Are the schools in Thailand concerned at all with promoting healthy eating habits?

The pics look like the Thai school menu is pretty healthy (hopefully, it's like this most of the time). Vegetables, proteins, rice - seems like a balanced diet and not too much fried or oily stuff...

Re: Lunch in a Thai School

It does look both nutritious and delicious, and it also looks like a lot of food. I guess the students are fairly hungry by lunch time, and for some, like here in the US, lunch might be their biggest and most important meal of the day. (Actually, according to many nutritionists the noon meal should be the biggest.) I wonder what time of day they eat?

They eat at 11:50pm. Kindergarten have their earlier at 10:30am as they have a nap.
