    HHO! Oftently if they cooked, I think its the Southeast Asian traditional food I heard a story from an expatriates American through out SEA, Thailand and China said there're some mountain tribes there eaten the raw fishes pickle inside the bamboos, its smelled bad for American like baby pampers.

    Tiny, raw, baby crabs are a common addition to somtam in Thailand.

    Mostly the crab is ปูแสม from mangrove area (they are as big as you see, so not quite baby) the crab is preserved with salt. Healthy som tam, the salty crab should be cooked. Sometimes the crab can be from rice field, but not as nice.
    Same as plaa raa (preserved fish) they should be cooked before adding to som tam.
