    Reporting and deleting posts

A long existing problem with the time it takes to do either. I have just tried to report the posting of pornographic films-I gave up after waiting 2-3 minutes for the report to go through on a broadband connection and moved over to trying to delete same-again another long wait. Gave up and tried again to be told post no longer existed.

    Re: Reporting and deleting posts

I know you are an avid surfer Khun Don, but is it at all possible you had other things going on when you tried this?

The reason I ask is I just reported your post (while uploading a movie at 100k) and it took 14 seconds from click > comment > reported. It seemed ok for me. In fact I was even shocked that the number of queries on the database was about 30% lower than average. I will certainly keep eyes open for this problem though.

    Re: Reporting and deleting posts

The problem has been constant for many months now (but lately seems to be getting worse)-and has existed both sides of a complete re-install of Windows (XP) (don't ask! )-internet is usually reasonably fast at all hours-but these two areas are always a "waiting for server" situation. The only other website that gives me trouble constantly is that of "The Nation".
Usually try to keep other processes running in the background to an absolute minimum-essentials only- at all times to max the speed of the puny 512k connection I have due to line and telephone exchange issues.
    Hope this info helps.

It takes me a veerrrry long time as well, too.

(and aparantly, "as well" and "too" mean the same thing...)

What I notice sometimes is after you do the delete or report and hit the key you don't really have to wait to see if it went through. Just back space or go back to the page and hit the refresh

I've never had this problem - though I have a lousy connection, with upload speed often around 1k only.

    Re: Reporting and deleting posts

I use Flock and Firefox, I did try this in IE (after seeing what browser was used being asked) and it did take about 78 seconds. Pretty sad compared to the 14 in Firefox.
