I'm not too sure on เวรกรรม, I think I remember reading before this is misfortune in your current life as a result of misdeeds in a previous one. Is that right ? What's the normal translation for เวรกรรม ?

ฝักผัดผัดฝัก - stir-fried corn ?

เหยียบไว้ - the dictionary gives เหยียบ as to 'to crush; to step on' but this doesn't seem to make much sense here. Is there another meaning or do I just not get it, and can someone else translate แต่เรื่องความรักถ้าบอกให้รู้แล้วเหยียบไว้นะ สัญญานะคะสัญญานะคะจะไม่พูดไป better ?

I was thinking about that first sentence, right. She says “ขอโทษนะคะ” well, that’s easy—she’s apologizing for something…but what for? Then she says “ถ้าพูดไม่ค่อยเข้าหู” which could literally be translated as “if speak doesn’t really enter ears.” So, is she apologizing for speaking too softly, or what? "I'm sorry if don't speak loud enough" ?

And how about the second sentence? She’s saying “ก็คนไม่รู้” which means “people just don’t know,” then she continues by saying “ถ้ารู้ก็คงไม่ทำ” or “if they do know, then they probably don’t do it.”

Moving on to the next line where she says “ไม่ใช้ว่าแม่ไม่สอน แต่ว่ามันสอนแล้วไม่จำ ก็เลยเป็นเวรเป็นกรรมของใครบางคน” It’s not that mom didn’t teach, but she taught, and they didn’t remember, so it’s their fate.

What do you think? I'll be honest, I'm a bit งง on this one too.

I'm way out of my league here,
but it seems like she is using คน to refer to herself (I don't even know if that's done, but just from the context of the bits I do understand). I also think that เข้าหู is probably more about understaning than speaking loudly (as in 'sorry you couldn't get it through your thick skull'... that type of 'entering&#39. Also I think เวรกรรม definitely is negative, because it's used to refer to fate and sin. So maybe that line has something to do with it being 'beyond sin, and the fate of certain people' (sarcastically).
Maybe I'm just rambling....

My Thai teacher asked me to reply for her:

เวรกรรม or "WEN KAM"

Thai people often say "WEN KAM" (เวรกรรม) when they have bad luck. It means that their bad luck is linked to their past behaviour in their previous life. Thai people often make offerings to temples and monks in order to gain merit and lessen their past bad actions.

เวรกรรม or "WEN KAM" is the result of the past bad actions.
Bad actions and rewards of these bad actions take an important place in Buddhism and in Thai behaviour. When somebody dies, if he behaved in a bad way, he is sent to #### in order to be tortured. After a while, he shall have a new rebirth. This life will be hard and tough. He has to pay for his past bad actions. Only when he died, he will have consumed his bad actions.
