    Chiang Mai flower festival

The annual Chiang Mai flower festival takes place on February 1-3 at Buat Hak Park (in the south-western corner of the moat).
On display: giant floats and sculpture made from flowers, thousands of orchids, bonsai, potted and cut flowers and plants, huge plant and fruits market. A feast for all senses.
    Don't miss it!

Saw this in 1996, well worth watching-do they still parade around the streets?

I forgot that: Saturday morning, starts at 8 a.m or so. I don't know whether the route has been changed, normally it is from Nawarat bridge to Thapae gate around the moat to the park.

and I also forgot to mention the beauty pageant - don't know the exact time.

it's been RAINING on and off for a day now, and this afternoon it was also very windy. very weird weather. hopefully the flower show won't be washed or blown away.

Can you upload some of the flower festival pictures, Betti? Perhaps in your new album?

    Re: Chiang Mai flower festival

I know it the parade will be going down Tae Pae road, my gf works at Lanna house and we have to find an alternative route to get to work Saturday morning.

    I'll be there taking pictures
To bad last year I didn't have a camera for the Royal Flora festival :(

The weather has been pretty bad rainy, windy, and cold all day today.
Would they postpone the parade or make it for another day if its raining how it has been?

I don't think they have any experience in this. it should not be raining in January and February. I'm told it's never happened in living memory.
I haven't heard anything about the plans for the parade, but the preparations in front of the governor's residence (at Nawarat Bridge) were underway when I was coming home. let's hope the rain stops.

    eventually, a sunny day
I especially enjoyed the orchid exhibition, much better than last year. many orchids with very small and very large flowers.

I posted a few pictures here:

    more to come later on.
