    Does anybody know where I might be able to buy some Thai-English bilingual books or (preferably) short stories?

    There's a nice little book by Thanapol Chadchaidee called Essays on Thailand (เรื่องราวต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับประเทศไทย). It has several dozen short essays in both languages about different aspects of Thai life and culture. I bought mine at Asia Books.

    Another interesting Book is

    "Fascinating Folktales of Thailand" by Thanapol Chadchaidee

    it has many famous Thai-Folktales in Thai and English.

    Oh, I love that book....and it made for great conversation starters with my Thai family as they all know the longer versions, of course.

    It has many interesting stories but there are some mistakes in the English translation.

    Yes, it is a very good book I am studying now. It is not only used to study Thai language but also you can learn as what Mr. Rikker said " some aspects of Thai life and culture" For example : the origin of some Thai festivals, the life of a farmer, the Thai marriage, the history of Thai ...
