You are probally right about the ants-but even zipping it up may not stop them entirely! I have had probs with ants in the UK when living in the country-I did manage to solve it with sugar distraction after chemical warfare failed! Mine were infitrating the house via windowsills
What happened to the old laptopin the end? I remember you were having serious problems with it late last year-did you manage to save all your stuff before-I presume-it went to "silicon heaven"?

baking powder usually works wonders. otherwise, I need to keep stuff in the fridge. maybe laptop too
the old one must go back to Hungary asap - it's my mother's company laptop and they want it back, even in ruins. I should try one more time to save the data. but nothing really important left in there.

Don't put the new laptop in the fridge-don't know whether it was just an urban myth, but it was said putting laptops, mobile phones etc in the freezer was a good way of undoing passwords etc!
Thanks for the tip about baking powder-and in return I suggest you use something to totally overwrite your old laptops hard disk before despatch-no saying where the hard drive-and any personal data will end up. As you probably know, normal hard disk deletes can be reversed to get personal details for use in things like identity fraud etc
