    Thai girl in our school

    Hello all,

We have a one female exchange student from Thailand in our school. I like her and I think she likes me too. I would like to be nice and charm her by learning to speak Thai. Can you help me to learn some nice lines that I could say to her? I know something but not much. For example, how do you say

    - I like you. I think you're nice.
    - I would like to go out with you.

    etc.

Some basics you can find e.g. ---> here - and elsewhere in the web. ... Hear Thai Survival Phrases could be interesting for you?? To translalte your sentences requires to know your sex (since from this it depends, e.g., how "I" is translated into pasa Thai).

Or you may wish to learn Thai right here with this forum or its sister site (click on the blue Thai text to hear the pronounciation)

I am male and she is female.

I visited that site and it was good. But some of the Thai text didn't work. I didn't hear the voice but for some I did hear. I wonder why?

I am assuming you are talking about the site I posted. Can you please tell us what part did not work? Section and words would be most useful. Thanks.

I like you (male to female) is then:

ͺس (phom chop khun) ... I would add also, for reasons of politeness, a "na khrap". phom chop khun na khrap

You can also say phom/chan chop thoe (but only if it is a very good friend, without so much respect).

    I, female, is di chan.

Perhaps you can try to translate all your other sentences by using e.g. the dictionary of thai-language.com at http://www.thai-language.com/dict/ . It translates at least some simple English sentences - with sound.

to go out, "I would like to go out with you." I find a little bit difficult - depends what you want to do outside with her. Something like

Phom dongan bai thiao thi khun na khrap ... or so

Yes. From the "Language Difficulties" section none works. For some reason thought all works in the next section, "Greetings". There are many others also which seem not to work. Do you want me to list them all?

Could you also please literally translate every word in this sentence: "koon tam hai pom mee kwarm sook" (You make me happy). From what I gather, meanings of these words are:

    - koon: you
    - tam: to make
    - hai: ???
    - pom: me
    - mee: to own or be something
    - kwarm: ???
    - sook: happy or fun

    Also from these sentences:
    - "duang dtar kong koon suay mak" (Your eyes are so beautilful).
    - "dai brot poot gup pom" (Please speak to me).

Is this correct? Can you explain the unknown words, please?

Thanks for you help! Kob kun krap!

Just tested this page and everything is working properly-are you "double clicking" with your mouse?

I clicked and double clicked them multiple times. Nothing happens and nothing is heard.

Very odd. I have just been through the site clicking sections and words and phrases at random-all work.
I have no idea what the problem is, sorry.
Anybody else having problems with this site?
