Re: Thai passport for Thai national
Hi Bobbyboy,
I will do the exact same thing next year but i still have a few questions.
Once i get my thai passport, will i be able to stay in Thailand or do i still need a visa? What should the next step be to permanently live in thailand?
Do i need a work permitt?
I also like to be an english teacher in Thailand. I know you need a degree and teacher license. But what if i just want to be a private teacher? Would i still need the license and degree?
Hopefully someone can help me with these questions.

Re: Thai passport for Thai national
I have a 31-year old Thai girl friend, who needs to get a Thai passport. Are you sahying all she needs is her ID card? What about having been divorced? I that's all, does it matter which passport office she goes to? Will it take longer at Central Shopping Mall? How much longer? Is tghe cost still 1,073 baht?

Re: Thai passport for Thai national
The fee for Thai nationals is still 1,000 baht, plus 35 baht for postage. Check it out at the Thai Minitry of Foreigh Afairs web site.

Re: Thai passport for Thai national
Does anyone know anything about obtaining a passport for a child? My gf's daughter is 8 years old. We are in Pattaya where she was born and where her birth father lives. He is willing to sign a consent form but when we went to the passport office here in Pattaya we were told that we have to return to Isaan and get the passport there? Is this really necessary? My gf said it was because that is where she lives. Maybe I am mis-understanding somehting. I know we only have copies of her birth certificate. Perhops we need only return to get an original birth certificate? Does anyone know if an original is a requirement? I have asked my gf but her english is 50/50. Thanks

Re: Thai passport for Thai national
Yes, you must have an original birth certificate and a *certified* copy when applying for a passport for someone under the age of 20. You also need ID cards and marriage certificate of parents, and permission form both parents.
Fuller details can be found on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: http://www.mfa.go.th/web/474.php
If applying for passport in Bangkok you can collect it on the third day whilst in the Provinces it takes ten days as they send the application to Bangkok and you receive it back EMS.
