rent room - live with thai family
hello
i wonder whether it's possible to sublease a room from a thai family for vacations
as a kind of studentexchange - but without 'exchange' and for non-schoolkids
would love to live with a thai family for some weeks instead of a hotel...
thanks

Re: rent room - live with thai family
Go for it mate, I stayed with a Thai family last Christmas, I didn't know what was happening half the time but that was the fun of it all, wasnt even sure exactly where i was.The village was out in the sticks and not a white man for miles. I have freinds from NZ living in Thailand, and the first thing they do is look for and join Farlang connection type groups, then they socalise with them constantly and never seem to mix with the locals.

Re: rent room - live with thai family
I have lived here for to long and seen to much, but listen to the tourist friends and do what ever blows your dress up.
But sure ain't for me with sanitary conditiond at a premium, and to many disease and virus and bacteria rampant, Dengue fever is going wild now,, nope, I do not want any of that.
If I could not afford to make a comfortable trip I would stay at home.

Aw c'mon! I've stayed with friends' families in little hillside villages where 4 out of 200 speak any English. You just need to enjoy unbelievably spicy food, lao with sticks and leaves in it and relentless teasing. If you don't speak much Thai, a lot of the teasing will need to be translated for you.
You'll love it!
