Travelling to Laos for Singaporeans

Some useful information for Singaporeans intending to travel to Laos. Singaporeans do NOT need any visa to enter Laos. Goto http://app.mfa.gov.sg/2006/idx_consularSporeVisa.asp -> Select "Laos" from the "Select a Destination Country" pull down menu underneath "Disclaimer" and you will see this,

There are several options to get into Laos. The only ones available in Singapore that do not require you to get to another country first will be to get either a Thai Airways or China Eastern flight -> transit Suvarnabhumi -> VTE. All other ways are more indirect e.g.

1. Air Asia flies direct to VTE from KL
2. Find your way to BKK, then fly Lao Airlines to VTE or;
3. Find your way to BKK, then fly to Udon Thani, then get a tuk tuk to Nong Khai (Talat Sao bus station) and then a shuttle bus over into Laos
4. Take an overnight sleeper train from Hualampong, BKK (~12 hrs) - see http://www.railway.co.th/english/images/northeast.gif and http://www.railway.co.th/English/FareRate.asp then grab a tuk tuk (negotiate price first) to the Bridge; followed by a shuttle bus over

A few days ago, I emailed Laos Embassy in SG about the requirement for visas for singaporeans, and never got a reply... Called the local Laos Embassy and the man said, as what you mentioned, no visas necessary... cool...
