HIV/Aids test
Apologies if this is an incorrect topic for this thread but this subject came up with a very good friend recently. I am in the process of moving to Thailand, hopefully within the next six months. I met a girl when there last November and when I return I am hoping that she will move in with me as my "housekeeper". I am not naive enough to believe that she is being a "good" girl whilst I am not there, but I do believe that once there we can have a very good relationship.
I would like to square things with her and myself by suggesting that we both are tested for HIV.Aids. Is that possible in Thailand? If so how much would it cost and how long would it take?
I don't want to get into a discussion about the rights and wrongs of my relationship or be browbeaten with stories of doom and gloom and the pitfalls that await.
I haven't even got a clue how I would broach the subject with her I'll leave that until nearer the time. I hope that this doesn't sound too cold and heartless, I would just like to make a start when I get there with a clean sheet if possible.

Re: HIV/Aids test
Perhaps a simple post of "Where can I get a test for HIV/Aids?" Would have gotten a simple answer. But since you brought it up....Come on... "housekeeper"? How creepy is that?I don't want to get into a discussion about the rights and wrongs of my relationship or be browbeaten with stories of doom and gloom and the pitfalls that await.

"in inverted commas"? come on how nudge nudge wink do you want me to be? This is exactly the kind of discussion I didn't want to get into.
So! where can I get a test for HIV/Aids and how much would it cost?

just walk into any hospital (ok, preferably a private one) and at the information counter say what you want. it is by no means unheard of. a hepatitis test would also be useful I think. a friend says it was below 1000 baht - I have no idea.

I would also suggest hepatitis B, heck the whole gamut wouldn't be a bad idea,

Re: HIV/Aids test
And I presume you intend to have regular tests done. Both Thai men and women often have other relationships at the same time - AIDS/HIV infections in Thailand are amongst the highest in the region. If you insist on having a relationship with your "housekeeper" then this is the risk you will have to take.

Re: HIV/Aids test
I heard there is a new Hepatitis D that is mostly only in Thailand :(
But, Noysboy, you can go just about any clinic or hospital in Thailand and get a test for VERY cheap

RE: I am not naive enough to believe that she is being a "good" girl whilst I am not there.
But I do believe that once I am there in full time residence that she won't need to go (or want to) elsewhere for monetary gain.
