Need more moderators in the chatroom

There has been in the past some mods that gets a little power happy, although the present group seems quite good at there jobs, there needs to be a bit of leniency and flexibility sometimes as every one has different views, just because your a mode does not make you right.

I am not sure if you frequent the chatroom, Paul, but so far I have not seen you there. Do drop by to have a chat when you are free.

Different views are welcomed. No one should be unduly frightened of mods as long as they are mindful that the chatroom is a family-friendly place. What is not condoned are sexist and racist remarks, vulgarities, crude language and harrassment. We follow the laws in Thailand too as we are part of the community. There are some basic rules that help to foster a friendly climate in the chatroom. The rules can be found here.

To clarify further, "differences of opinions" with a mod per se will not get you banned. It is WHAT you say or HOW you say it (or some BEHAVIOR PATTERNS) that will do you in. There are certain topics or behaviors that are not acceptable both in the forums and the chat room.

hi ive been chatting in the chat room for a little while now and i totally agrree with the poster who said the mods need looking at let me start by saying that these sites are a great place but the chat room can sometimes not be i was cautioned in there before because i used the term serving wench i used this term about my gf it was in a light hearted manner any one with anysende of humour could and should have seen it a was called afew names told by a mod that 2 pwople had complained about the term it all got a bit silly that night and i apologosed personnaly to a mod wich she did not reply then the next night i cofronted the guy who called me a male chauvanist pig i contfronted him privately but he brought it into the room where once again it all got a bit silly and a guy defended me and probab;y wrongly caled the other guy a jerk and he was banned i have pm a mod about this yesterday but as yet no reply ok im a big boy i can take a bit of name calling but my point is there seems to be one rule for the mods and another for chatters one mod i have seen use the words s...t b....td and f....ker and guess what she is still on here as a mod and another use abriviation bs which va only mean bullshit since im on my soap box i watched in the chat room the other night 3 mods they had a guy who was banned kept coming back i did not see the reason he was banned mybe he should have been but hte way the mods carried on was not good anyone coming into the chatroom for the first time would have left i believe one mod suggested a competition between thereselves see who could kick him first not good advert for the chat room
ok the unwanted people who visit the chatroom yes a agree it is a problem but i have seen the mods toy with these people y dont they send them a private message and not do it in the room after all because a man would like a thai gf does not make him a sex tourist i know its a problem and this is a family chatroom and i have to say some very nice and helpful people in there
but also there are some who take thereselves a little to serious ive think ive rambled on enough

just two ideas:
- if you used punctuation, people would be more likely to bother to read you and understand what you are talking about,
- grow some balls and be more specific. why don't you just name me? send a PM to Richard and complain specifically. moaning like this is quite childish.

maybe we were kidding about "who can kick him first" because it was a troll that came back 7 or 8 times and we were sick of getting rid of him so many times. personally I spent over half an hour of my night cleaning him up his traces. in hindsight, I regret wasting my time on seriously disturbed people who enjoy trolling chatrooms.
maybe the guy who was deemed a sex tourist had been whispering to others or we have some other reason to believe so.
maybe these people were warned in private before being kicked out, you just didn't see it.
Marie is very professional managing the chatroom. and I know she can take care of herself but I completely disagree with your insinuation that mods are toying with people. she would be the first to kick my ass if I did that.

i copied the whole converstaion that night between beti sved and marie and if anyone had come into the chatroom they would have left i did not want to get intoi a personel fight with betti but she asked me to not be so childish i realy do think the remark about my puncuation was not nice its not the first time ive felt belittled in the chatroom do you need a good education to chat in thai chatbox or is anyone welcome i am not jelous of people with good education i am envious but i like to think if i had a good standard education i would treat people the same regardless wether they could spell puncuate etc same i wil try in future to puncuate better and spell andif i saw anyone who had difficulties in that area i would certainly not write it in a public forum i would pm them and say it would be easier to read if you puncuated better anyway enough for today

I was the mod involved. I think I explained to you how the reports came about. During that time there was too much going on in the room--there were outbursts, left and right, I was busy trying to put off fire--and sorry if I was not able to address everything point by point-including your apology.

Right, I am not yet ready with my answer. I am still asking those involved. I was hoping to give you the accurate answer by tomorrow. I remember that was the day I was quite sick but before I went to the hospital I saw you and Ericlim fixing in a very adult, gentlemanly way the row between you two, and this guy, Andrew, was also busy maliciously flaming people to derail the "peace talks", so to speak. I think I even told him to stop and he didn't.

The chat room may be way, way below your standards, based on your numerous criticisms against us eversince you joined. Sorry about that. You should have saved yourself a lot of vexation had you dumped us right away. LOL I imagine there are lots of other chat rooms much better than ours. I agree, we have our faults. Since you will be setting up your own website (and chat room?), I guess you can draw up your own rules, pick excellent mods- unlike the lousy ones here- and do everything to your liking.

I am not trying to belittle you. I am a teacher well used to substandard writing. however, if you want to be understood, it would be helpful to try to write in a manner that is comprehensible to others. anyone here can tell you that I don't go round criticising others' English.

as for everything else, again, I will keep away from the chatroom as long as I can without disintegrating, so as not to hurt the sensibilities of people who ********** troll and other terms like that are offensive WHEN THEY ARE WELL EARNT by people.
I cannot believe people can go round and offend others using all nice words and it is allowed, but a total *********cannot be labelled the way they deserve without upsetting you.

Marie or anyone, you can cut out the words you don't like just to protect the institution of moderating, but the fact remains.

it is not a fact of hurting peoples sensibilities but it is the rules of the forum no crude language and the mods are the first to jump on anyone who uses it.
even if the terms u use are well earnt by people you should not use the language on here simple as that. this is my point you used foul language many times and nothing happens others use it and they are kicked j andrew m was booted for using jerk so where do we draw the line ****** troll to me on a family room are not acceptable all im saying is the rules should apply to everyone no matter who mod or chatter you as a mod and a techer surely should be able to control yourself when typing these words ive wantedto swear many time but have not even with my limited education does not have to swear
