    Windows Mail and *English*

Some six months ago I changed my computer and it came with Windows Mail instead of Outlook Express that I had previously been using. Windows Mail is an improvement over OE except in respect to the spell checker.

The only options I have for the spell check are English, French, German, and Spanish; however if I actually write things in English it insists on telling me I am wrong and giving me the AMERICAN spelling. After 6 months it is begining to drive me mad...

Do any of our techical bods out there know how I can get it to recognise real English istead of AMERICAN?

I will look in to it later, but not sure if it will help because I am using Windows Mail and that fix is for Windows Live Mail which is a different newer programme.

It just is my problem as well. I merely tolerate it.

We in our country still mostly follow the Brit system and I do correct my spelling accordingly.

BTW, why cannot these Brit and American guys agree on one system so that people are relieved of this mess.

Probably better asking America that question as they are the ones at odds with most of the world. Even Canada use English "English".

It would seem there is no fix for this issue; another piece of Micro$oft software not 'fit for the purpose' for a significant number of intended users.

Yes. There appears no solution even at the far end of the tunnel. Do just as I do. Simply tolerate the nonsense!

I have not used IE for a very long time, so do not experience this problem, (touching wood!) what I do use is Firefox for browsing, and 'Incredimail' as my email program.
Both come with spell checkers that can be tuned to the brand of English you prefer.
I do not know if this helps anyone, just hoping it might.
