    Chiang Khan accommodation ?

    Hi all,

does anyone know, whether there are guesthouses in Chiang Khan with private bathroom?

It seems as if I was getting a bit out of my backpacking age and looking for something more comfortable.

If there are guesthouses with private bathroom, which would you rate best?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Chiang Khan accommodation ?

I once passed by a place "Chiang Khan Resort". I believe it is affordable and it looks good. But i do not know the exact information. I think this is more of a proper guesthouse compared to those in the village having only 1 or 2 rooms.

    Hi Betti,

    Thanks a lot.
I have read these two reports before. They don't help me too much with my question.
    But anyway thanks.

    Hi y2long,

    thank you for your information.

That's what the web says, too. "Chiang Khan Resort" is rated best.
But nothing that answers my question.

    Have a good time.

    Hi y2long,

it's not that important to make a phonecall.

I just wondered whether there were guesthouses in Chiang Khan with private bathroom. That's all.

And anyway, I shall leave home in one week, so don't worry.

    Thanks anyway.

    Re: Chiang Khan accommodation ?

I've been to Chiang Khan several times. There a lot of guesthouses, and they keep changing around (different owners, different locations). You can ask around, most of them are located in a relatively small stretch along the Mekhong River. There are also some inexpensive, small hotels that would certainly have a private bath.

There is a place called the Loogmai Guesthouse (I don't know about it personally) listed in a couple guidebooks, that apparently has one room with a private bath.

    From Fodor's online:
A small French colonial port house is the setting for this elegant guesthouse. Stylish, minimalist studios have well-chosen, untreated, antique wooden furnishings. The owner, Somboon, is a local artist who exhibited his work in Germany for 25 years, and his influence is plain to see. The upstairs fan-cooled room with private bathroom and a view over the Mekong is the one to aim for and well worth booking in advance.
You could try to call and see if your lucky enough that it's available. The phone number given is 09/210-0447.

By the way, in my experience, some of the beds in Chiang Khan are hard as a rock, so you might want to consider the comfort of the bed as well as the availability of a private bath. As I said, many choices in town, so shop around. Enjoy you stay, and if you find the time afterward, please let us know how it goes.
