Sending your daughter off to work in bars Pattaya or Phuket so you have some income to buy booze.

Having a 3 day drunk party for your daughter to be married the Buda way.

A 4 day drunk party so your father can be put to rest the Buda way.

No matter what is done here incorporates a multi-day party with loud music and plenty of booze.

But all seems to be the Thai Buddhism way.

Where did you get these ideas from? If it's written in one of the suttas or Buddhist scriptures, can you please show us.

I don't think he meant that it is written in the scriptures. he meant that even though most Thais profess to be Buddhist, go to the temple, follow the rituals etc., they see absolutely no problem in doing things that are profoundly against the most basic teachings of the Buddha AND not even any problem in incorporating clearly un-Buddhist things like booze into a Buddhist wedding or funeral.

Thanks Betti, All of us have seen it and do not understand it.
I have some in my pic site that shows it, for my FiL funeral which lasted 5 days, I bought a pickup load of vegs, a big hog and a lot of beer and 10 cases of Thai whiskey, and the sound truck full of cheap speakers with 100 Db of noise for the full thing.
And when we were running the distillery the monks used to come down and visit my BiL and smoke cigs and drink whiskey as it was being made.
So don't tell me how quiet and serenes and cool these Buddhists are.

There is never a doings that is Thai/Buddhist, funeral, wedding, Monk induction, house blessing that only lasts 1 day and does not include a lot of booze and loud noise,
Now YEOWS move over to a village, live next door to the WAT and then tell me where I get these ideas.
I think that it is time to open a lot of eyes and smell the coffee and really see and admit what does go on over here instead of living in La La land of make believe, see and admit what goes on here among the strict Buddhist Thai People and quit spreading this mis-information..
