Court accepts request to seize Thaksin's asset

( - The Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions of the Supreme Court on Thursday accepted the petition of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to confiscate ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s frozen asset of over 76 billion baht and put it into state coffers.

The court ordered for its copy of injunction to be printed on general newspapers for three days, and people who have the right to the asset will also receive the copy of injunction.

The court will summon both litigants to a hearing on December 25 at 10am, and the accused may appeal within 30 days following the court’s order on Thursday.

The case was filed by Attorney-General Chaikasem Nitisiri, who said Pol Lt-Col Thaksin amassed the assets as a result of conflict of interest when he was prime minister.
