Doctors forbid Samak UDD meeting visit

Former prime minister Samak Sundaravej was prohibited by doctors from joining the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) gathering at Rajamangala stadium on Nov 1, said government spokesman Nattawut Saikua.

Mr Nattawut said Mr Samak called him yesterday to say that the doctors who are treating him do not want him to attend. Earlier, Mr Nattawut said Mr Samak would be there.

The doctors told Mr Samak he must be in hospital for at least one or two weeks before doctors decide whether to discharge him.

Mr Samak is being treated at a hospital amid rumours that he has liver cancer. He was admitted on Oct 2. The hospital refuses to disclose the nature of his illness.
