PPP denounces military top brass for pressuring PM to resign

The People Power Party Friday held a press conference to denounce the military top brass for going on TV on Thursday to pressure the prime minister to resign.

The press conference was held at the party head office by Peeraphan Phalusuk, Amnuay Klangpha, Phaichit Sriworakhan and Pracha Prasopdee.

Peeraphan said Prime Minister and Defence Minister Somchai Wongsawat should not give in to the military pressure.

He said the military leaders were not empowered by the Constitution to step up pressure against the government.

Amnuay said he disagreed with the way the military top brass gave the interview on TV because it was not the military's constitutional duty to do so.

He said it was impossible for setting up a government of national unity to solve the crisis.
