    Nong Grace and Christmas

    Richard:
We are nearly at the end of October and there is relatively not much time left to send presents by surface mail from some places to Thailand in good time for Christmas.
I would like to send N. Grace a Christmas present.
I remember you posting sometime back that she liked Pocoyo and Kipper books-and Dora the Explorer as well? If this s this still the case, which books does she already have?
Or maybe she would like something else?
Can you give any ideas, please.
    Thanks.

She has four Kipper books: This [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kipper-Story-Collection-Kippers-Birthday/dp/0340746769/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225274400&sr=1-1"]one[/ame], this [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Colours-First-Kipper-Mick-Inkpen/dp/0340944250/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225279822&sr=1-16"]one[/ame], this one (Kipper's Teatime Stories) and this [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Kipper-Collection/dp/0340844442/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225274400&sr=1-3"]one[/ame].
She has one Pocoyo book. This [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pocoyo-Story-Time/dp/1862303916/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225274562&sr=1-16"]one[/ame].

I see there is a Christmas story for Kipper which would probably be good. The Snowman by Raymon Briggs would also be an excellent idea. Any other Christmas/snow theme story books would be good for her. Maybe even an advent calendar though obviously that would have to come early. She is already getting excited about Christmas and keeps asking when we can put up the Christmas tree.

    Thanks

If anyone is interested in giving any of the suggested books to Grace for Christmas, please post here with title, that way we can avoid giving her duplicate presents.
    Thanks

    Re: Nong Grace and Christmas

Do you think it would be too early to give her an easier version of "Heidi"? Maybe you could read it to her? I'm not sure how well she can read, and how fast she is learning... is it ok to send something more "challenging" that she could maybe also read later on? I was thinking about something like [ame="http://www.amazon.com/HEIDI-Listen-Books-Johanna-Spyri/dp/0756612764/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225286564&sr=1-9"]this[/ame], so that she could also have something to listen to.
    What do you think?

I couldn't think of anything more Swiss but maybe it's too early?

Edit: Is there anything Gor would like to have? I'm sure he'd also be happy to get something for Christmas..?

    Re: Nong Grace and Christmas

It is a good story but the level is way too high for her. I am not talking about her for reading, but for me to read to her! Too many new words and not enough pictures! I think it will be another 2-3 years before she is ready for that edition. Plus, there is no need to pay extra for audio CD as I can read to her. She is starting to read by herself but very basic books.

If anyone can find a book about a girl called Grace then that would be excellent. The only one I have so far is "A Baby for Grace". The last time I was in the UK I also bought a keyring with her name on it. Things like that is obviously nice as we cannot buy here.

We have had a kind of breakthrough this month and she is now speaking English nearly 100% with me now. She likes making up songs in English and I hear her talk to herself sometimes in English. I have also subscribed to the Disney Playhouse channel this month and the level of English on that is exactly right for her. Her favourites on that channel so far are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Make Way for Noddy, Hand Manny and Little Einsteins. I am sure she will like the others in time. Last year I told her that if she could understand English then she would be able to watch more cartoons than her friends. This is now the payoff for her.

Suzie from the forums was visiting us last week. She can testify that Grace read a new book straight through with excellent pronunciation. It was a bilingual book and even though she could read the English, there were a lot of Thai words that she couldn't read. I think this next year will see her progress quickly now.

That's cool thanks. I am sure she will treasure it.

Yes, we can still put money into his account on your behalf if you are unable to go to the prison yourself. He can use this money to buy food, clothing, toiletries, cigarettes etc.

I think we have them all now. She loves them. Most other books we have are bilingual and are bought locally.

    Thanks
