Government 'ready to talk' with PAD leaders

Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat said on Sunday the government was ready to hold talks with the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) if it will be a creative talk, leading to the peace and order of the country.

Responding to PAD core leader Chamlong Srimuang's statement that the PAD is ready to hold talks with the government, the premier said negotiation is a good solution in principle.

Asked who would be the government's representatives to talk with the PAD, he said "Anyone who can do this job well. The government agrees with the idea."

One of PAD's top core leaders, Gen Chamlong, called for talks only between the government and the anti-government coalition activists led by the PAD core leader, the prime minister said it was possible but he had not been contacted by anyone yet. Asked if he would join the talks with the PAD himself, he said he was undecided. (TNA)
