PAD to leave Ratchadamnoen Nok Rd.

(BangkokPost.com) - The People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) is ready to clear Ratchadamnoen Nok Road to allow the royal funeral procession of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana to proceed between November 14 and 19, PAD core figure Chamlong Srimuang announced on Tuesday.

However, Maj-Gen Chamlong said the police would have to provide security to its supporters if they want the PAD to open the road quickly.

He said the group will have to raise its security measures and use more spotlights to monitor areas around the protesting site, following the explosion about 200 metres away from its rally early Tuesday.

The police reported that the explosion was similar to the previous blast caused by an M-26 grenade near Makkhawan Rangsan Bridge.

PAD core figure Chamlong Srimuang said representatives who will enter the government-PAD talks must be credible individuals, and it would not be necessary for third parties to take part in the negotiations.
