2 'PAD guards' arrested with bombs

2 'PAD guards' arrested with bombs

Police Sunday arrested two men, who confessed to be PAD guards, after a lot of bombs and other weapons were found on them.

The two - Thanit Khanurai, 28, and Watana Kijpithaksin, 22, were arrested while riding a motorcycle on the Ratchasima Road in Dusit district at 2:50 pm.

Police found a bag with 3 M67 grenades, 22 ping pong bombs, 1 homemade bomb, 4 shotgun ammunitions, a samurai sword, and three sling shots.

Police also found id cards of PAD guards on them.

Watana told police that he was hired by another PAD guard, identified only as Nok, to carry the bag from a spot under the Rajawat Bridge to put into a garbage bin in front of the Rajdamnone Boxing Stadium.

An interesting development if everything in this story can be believed. There is certainly a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't always get to hear about. In many conflicts there are often three sides - with the third party always trying to make trouble for the other two sides.

It is very intriguing. Why were they dumping the weapons in a rubbish bin by a stadium? To get rid of them or for pick-up? Who tipped off the Police?

Motorcycles are often stopped by police at checkpoints. Usually they just check licenses but if they act suspicoulsy the also search the bike. Obviously we don't know the full story but it is possible the PAD were planning a bomb explosion near their encampment in order to force the army to stage a coup. I also wouldn't put it past them to hurt their own in the name of "democracy". Of course, it could also be a third party pretending to be PAD just to cause trouble. Maybe they were planning on accidently leaving their id cards near the scene. Who knows.

Certainly would not put it past PAD to "manufacture" an incident to whip up flagging support. Hope we get to know at least some of the truth-presupposing of course we would know such if we saw it !

Re: 2 'PAD guards' arrested with bombs

Two men arrested carrying bombs were ex-PAD guards

PAD's leader Songthi Limthongkul said the two men arrested by police on Sunday with homemade bombs no longer worked as volunteer guards.

Sonthi insisted it was instead an attempt to discredit the activist group.

Police arrested two men Sunday in possession of homemade low-explosive 'ping-pong' bombs and other weapons including hand grenades and handgun ammunition.

Police also found PAD guard identification cards, and they said the duo confessed to being volunteer guards for the Peoples' Alliance.

Sonthi said that one of the two was formerly a PAD guard but was dismissed by PAD core leader Chamlong Srimuang some time ago because he tended to use violence when on duty.

He said the arrest was an attempt to discredit the PAD.

One of the arrested men told police that he was hired by another PAD guard, identified only as Nok, to carry the bag from a spot under the Rajawat Bridge to put into a garbage bin in front of the Rajdamnern Boxing Stadium.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver was arrested Monday morning when he was found carrying a handgun at a police checkpoint at Ban Phitsanulok. At the same time the sound of an apparent bomb explosion was heard near Rajvinit School but police had not yet identified the source of the sound.

Bad publicity is good publicity when promoting a course, it's a pity these people are so deluded.
