    Demonstrations

Reading about all the demonstrations in Thailand is becoming really depressing to me. Same stories, just a different day. Even reading about the violence is becoming old news. I was just thinking this morning, if the temperature in Bangkok was 19F(-7C) and windy like it is here, I wonder how long the demonstrations would last. Or perhaps even have the need to work for a living.

One does indeed wonder how these "professional demonstrators" are managing to live without going to work. I have read PAD is slipping each one of them a few hundred Baht a day along with their free meals. Nice work in a nice climate if you can get it-and dodge the grenades.
For sure there seems to be a competition as to who can grab the front page of newspapers going on between PAD and the Thaksin camp at the moment-but what is the alternative news? Probably economic and financial worries-and we can get enough of that sort of news at home already, wherever we live.

I must admit though - I've just read some even more depressing news - the possibility of Hilary Clinton becoming the next US Secretary of State.
