    Samui-Tao-NangYuean Island

Was there on 26 OCT 2008 by bus, The VIP one-way bus ticket + the ferry to Samui Island approx. 1200 baht included taxs. It took around 13 hours from BKK bus station(Southern ) to Samui Island.

Arrived to Samui bus station and caught a cab that ripped me off 700 baht. My recommendation is sharing with other people. It cost you 100-150 baht per person (5-6 persons on a ride) Then tell taxi driver where you really want to go. He will drop you off at the place where each one tell him exactly spot.

Day-trip tour snoking at Tao and NangYuean Island appox 1600-1700 baht.
while you are driving and snokling , the photographer will take your photos under the sea and show them all when you are the way back day tour. If you don t like the photos, just do not buy it. Price per photo is 350 baht but you can negociate with the photographer. I did take 6 photos+the reefs photos on CD 1200 baht lol

while you are at Samui Island. I recommend you hire a normal motobike for 200-300 baht a day(24 hours) it is your own respondsibility to fill the feul. The motorbike will make your life easiler and help for saving cost rather than catch a cab while driving it around an Island yourself . You can ask for a map at tourist information spot or hotel reception for free.

There are 3 ways to go to Samui Island
    1. By Plane =

    -Non-stop flight.
The Return ticket from BKK(Suwannabhom airport)- Samui airport
There are 2 Thai airlines departure from Suwannabhom airport straingt to Samui airport; Thai airway and Bangkok airway. The return ticket fees including taxs and charged would be around 7500- 10000 baht per person. Cost may varies and the price could be change at anytime.( High or low seasons) and Take approx. 2 hours.

    -Transit stop at Surattanee airport
The return ticket from BKK to Suratanee airport for low-cost airlines cost you around 3500-5500 baht per person. Then you need to go to Don-Suk bus station and buy a return bus+ferry ticket for 300-500 baht per person.
It takes you appox. 6 hours to Samui Island.

    2. By Train
Catch a train from BKK( HouLamPoong train station) to Suratanee station for VIP return ticket cost around 2500 baht. Then you need to catch a bus at Surathanee bus station and buy ticket for bus+ferry ticket to samui around 500 baht for return ticket. It takes appox. 13-15 hours to Samui

    3 By Bus
Catch a bus from BKK (Bus station) to Samui Island. The return ticket costs around 2200 baht ( a VIP bus ticket+ included a ferry ticket to samui) and including complementary snack and drink on bus and One meal on the way at local resturant.
The bus must stop at the DonSuk port while waitting to get it on the ferry. After ferry arrive to Samui port, you can cacth a taxi from the port or The bus will drop you off at Samui bus station . It takes you approx. 13 hours to Samui Island.

I do recomened you must go to the Samui bus station rather than trying to catch a cab from the port at night as they seems to be
a place that could be easiler to catch a cab and you can share a taxi with other people appox. 100-150 baht per person instead of 700 baht on a ride.

where was this one taken? there is a very similar place near Ao Nang, Krabi.

I have never been to Samui. doesn't sound like a nice place if even Thais are ripped off like that. that's a huge warning red flag for me.

This picture was taken on NangYean Island at Suratanee province

Samui has known as a high -class Island for Thais and the others. As everything are so expensive for Thai. At Samui Island, They put up on only one price both for thai and foreigner tourists
As Tourism is the only one important business on this Island.
Otherwise, The people on Samui Island are nice with everyone, helpful and caring.

It is the same case like the nightclub in Thailand. You can choose a very high class nightclub and spend 10000 baht a night or just a nice average pub and spending only 2000 baht on the same JW black lable including mixer

They didn t actually rip me off and should change the word rip instead of I choose it myself . but it is a standard rate for tourism. As I said you can choose the way how to go suit to your budget. You can catch a cab for 700 baht or share it with others. Another way, you can catch a van-taxi (I don t know what to call in english) รถสองแถว for 50 baht a ride but it may take some time to wait for ages

Tip: Don t be misunderstanding about a double pricing and feel like it is unfair.
It is exactly happened to Thai as well.
BUT There are many ways about how to and how much we can ask for discount price.
ask for 50-70% discount on street market.

I could not believed my farang friend could get discount price more than me as I am Thai.
He was asking for the best last price from the seller and he will sing a Thai song for him.

And the best trick and tip is smile to someone you are dealing with

I my self encounter this TAXI problem, but later found out from my Resort's staff. She told me in Samui, there's no meter and Taxi driver will tell you off,Fix price.
Mean if you travel around Chaweng area, wheather 50m or 2km.is 200Baht.And to Lamai from Chaweng 300baht.Airport to Chaweng 500Baht.
Cheaper way if you less than 2person,advice take Songtew 1/4-1/2 of the price per pax.

I didn t mean a photo on a PLATE as a frame for 100 baht on the jetty at all. For me this one is too expensive for me as well. I got it for 50 baht only
