Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Thanks to both for the welcome, and also for cottoning on to the pseudonym of BabelOne as opposed to babe-lone, which is not applicable to my gender although the other half ain't a prob. I thought it wise to go incognito for a while and it's an old one I used before.
There's multilingual/biblical/angkrit/thai/ajarn/anuban/talk-to-much connotations in mixed-case but my name is Sean and thanks for the welcome.

Babel suits me better for a nick', thanks.

Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
I am a new member, too. I reside in GA (USA) most of the year and also have a Thai home with my Isaan wife of 36 years in changwat Sakhon Nakhon. We have retired early due to health reasons and will try to travel to Thailand as often as we can. With the spare-time, I study Dhamma, collect Thai amulets and practice meditation. I have visited many Thai wats and attained many Thai texts of Dhamma and meditation. I am especially attracted to the monks of the Forest Tradition, such as Ajahn Mun, Ajahn Fan, Ajahn Chah. LP Koon and LuangTa Maha Boowa. I have visited Wat Pa Baan That many times for guidance and to revel in its serenity. Chok dee.......

Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Sawadee ka! Where is the wai-ing smilie? // \\
I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Well, my story is that I worked in Thailand years (1986 and 1987) in a Hmong refugee camp (BanVinai) and lived in Chaing Khan, Loei Province. I was there when the Thai band Carabao came out with their giant hit "Made in Thailand" and became an instant fan. I made it to two live concerts, saw the Carabao movie several times, bought all the albums on cassette tape and even once dressed up for a skit as Khun Aed and sang "Me Kow Dee Ma Bok," adding a verse about our project with the Hmong refugees. Well I was young and enthusiastic.
Recently, after a drought of 22 years, I have rediscovered Thailand on the Internet. I want to relearn Thai. I've discovered that Carabao is STILL going strong and there is a backlog of wonderful music to catch up on. I am especially thrilled with the collaborative projects between Aed Carabao and others. I am now a HUGE fan of Parn, a woman with a BEAUTIFUL voice. Her songs with Khun Aed blow me away. The two together are SO charming and so energizing. I bought some concert CDs and DVD, and MP3s and a Karioke VCD.
My real name is Ann, but on another website I go by "jT" so I thought I would be JayTee. Please alert me if that means something horrible in Thai, LOL . . .Last edited by JayTee; 16-06-09 at 07:58 AM. Reason: forgot to say I was from the US
