Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Guys,
Just found this great forum via a search for the tourists that died on Koh Phi Phi 2 months ago.
Have they found out what caused it yet?
I got married in Ban Chiang, Udon Thani last November and we just bought 1 Rai this week.
We live in Dubai and I intend to retire in Udon in 10 years, hopefully sooner.
Looking forward to reading all the postings.

Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello my name is Maggie Barrett, I'm over 60 and discovered this site which is one of the most informative sites I've come across to gleam knowledge to where and what to visit in Thailand for my trip (I will be travelling solo) in Nov/Dec this year. I've been trying to put together an agenda and would like to share my small amount of dollars to the Thai community in booking local tours. I have a sketchy plan to arrive in Bangkok for the regular 2-3 days. Head to a great beach to lounge, snorkel and visit local islands via boat. I do have physical limitations compounded with the heat that I have to take into account. I am booking to volunteer at the Elephant Nature Park for a week at the end of my trip in Chiang Mai. I have been a supporter of this organization for several years. So there will be an extra few days after my week at the Sanctuary to discover the area. Flying out of Chiang Mai, home. I do not want to visit any place that uses animals for tourism, such as elephant rides, zoos or tiger tours that is one stipulation I do have.
I loved your video's Richard of cooking Thai. Although that is not one of the tours I want to take but seeing it done is fascinating and educational.
I'm sure this message is like thousands of others but this will be the first time in my life, I will be travelling solo and want to meet people and make it the trip of a lifetime. Thank you.

Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Welcome to the Forum Maggie. Good to read you are going to do work at the Elephant Nature Park-there are several active members here very concerned with elephant welfare, including myself.
Good news for you is that you will find the North cooler when you are visiting-it can even be quite chilly in the mornings and late evening!
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have-we have many regular members willing to advise."There is no such thing as totally useless information"

Re: New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick hello from me currently in Australia.
And for a brief introduction - I've been lucky enough to have been traveling to Bangkok for business over the last 5 years and I have fallen in love with your wonderful country. I have been praying to the gods that they turn the temperature down a notch, but alas with global warming on the rise, I fear it will only get worse.
I was fortunate enough to meet a beautiful Thai goddess on a business trip last January and I've fallen hopelessly in love with her. I'm now traveling between Australia and Thailand every 3 months until more permanent arrangements can be made. I've been trying to learn the Thai language since January because it seems only appropriate that I make an effort to learn her language and culture, seeing that she is also learning the English language as well. I fear that my 'Australian' version of English only makes it more difficult for her to understand and I have no idea how badly I'm destroying the Thai language in my efforts. But she is very pleased that I am making the attempt to learn and this makes me happy.
I've already ordered a number of books and DVD's form this forum's sponsor (www.buythaibooks.com) and have been pleased with the prompt service. I am now looking to find some other Thai people who can assist me with practicing what I learn as I only get 2 weeks every 3 months to put my study into practice, so if there is anyone on the forum that would like to learn 'Australian' English in return for assisting me with the Thai language, my contact details are in my profile. My next trip to Thailand is in September and I want to make a really good impression as I will be staying with her and her family next trip.
