UN says Burma 'must free' prisoners
    By: AFP

United Nations - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday urged Burma's authorities to free all political prisoners after Yangon announced an amnesty for 17 of them.

"I wish to reiterate my call for the release of all political prisoners, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and the resumption of dialogue between the government and the opposition without delay and without preconditions,'' Ban told reporters."

He also said he would like to visit the Asian nation but said he had made no decision. "There may be some issues that first of all I have to discuss with the Burma government, about the timing and about the agenda... but nothing has yet been discussed,'' he said.

I know who that was - and many countries have echoed the feeling - if not in words - in deeds.
