I will post a brief outline later.

I don't want to bore the vast majority that don't have an interest in photo processing techniques and wouldn't want to overwhelm anyone with a genuine interest so I think a brief answer in this thread is best.

    Software

    1. I do the main processing of images in Paint Shop Pro (I have Photoshop but am used to this much cheaper alternative).
    2. I use Nikon Capture NX for processing RAW files
    3. I use Photomatix for creating HDR images and for tone mapping
    4. Lucisart for pulling extra detail

    Camera

    1. The vast majority of my photos are taken with my travel combo of Nikon D50 and 18-200 VR lens - The VR (vibration reduction) allows you to hand hold at low shutter speeds, so negating somewhat the need for a tripod for long exposures. The D50, although discontinued, is widely regarded as a Nikon classic. I would recommend searching out a pre-owned D50 unless your budget can strech to a D90 or above.
    2. Nikon 50m 1.8 is a superb and cheap low light and portrait lens
    3. SB600 speedlight, I don't use this as much as I should!
    4. Polariser - I used one for the first time with digital last year and I didn't like the results at all, I prefer processing to produce similar results.

    Techniques

I started to do a "techniques" paragraph, but it seemed to me to sound pompous and frankly off-putting to anyone that wouldn't know the technical jargon. So if there is anyone that is seriously interested (jaidee, roamin, khun don?), I am thinking of adding a tutorial page to my website ............ what do you think? Alternatively if you would like me to explain the process on a particular image of mine, or would like my opinion of one of your own images you are working on you could send me a pm
