"SOP" of marriage/wedding in thailand
Hi. Can anyone help me in compiling every detail of a typical thai marriage into this thread?
What would be done after a couple made the decision to get married and what needs to be negotiated and done and the venue (eg. dowry, paperwork, purchase of any items such as wedding rings).
Replies are deeply appreciated!

I cannot help with the details, just want to wish a lot of happiness (presuming you are getting married)

Don't get trapped into the older style Thai marriage customs, some of them can be very unfair and exploitative., Many modern Thai marriages do not include old customs such as dowries., Make your own rules and be much happier.

I know this has been discussed before a gazillion times, but from what I read modern Thai marriages do include the dowry. Now if we're talking about amount of dowry for foreigners, and other factors such as fiancee having kids and previously married, then that is up for discussion.

Actually, Thai marriages never have included a dowry. Sin sod is a different concept, rarely understood by us.
That said, when some girls snag a farang, the family will see it as a chance to cash in, again because of the foreigner's lack of understanding.

Many Thai customs are just so hard for Westerners to feel comfortable with. IMHO, if one is uncomfortable, one needs to take more time.
