Hello! I'm a newbie to the web board. My nickname is Jade and I'm 75% Thai and 25% Chinese. Basically, my parents are Thai but I was born and raised in America. I can only understand Thai but I have little capability of speaking and reading the language. I have one question:

What do you call it when someone prays with a lotus flower between the palms? This interests me because my real first name, Kochakorn, means just that. But what is it in "real" Thai?

Oh, and does anyone know a website with Buddhist chants? I used to do them when I was a child before bed but I can only remember "Ya mod ta sa, puak ka wat doh, ya mod ta sai"

Your name: , means о which in English is put your hands together in a "wai".

But, we wouldn't use that for praying with a lotus flower in front of a shrine like the picture of me above. We would say:

    شٻ ¹ ͡
